Cooking Instructions – Oven Cooking

As a guy I sometimes need a bit of help with cooking. I'm an OK cook, but I just need inspiration now and then. So I wanted to find a few handy cooking tips and I found a few here and there around the web. It's a small list but with a bit of luck it will be of use.

A couple of the tips mention ovens. Loads of diverse types of oven exist. For example deck pizza ovens are a class of oven found in a restaurant. A specfic style might be the deck oven which is in the main used for cooking food such as bread and pizza. The oven refered to below is just a simple kitchen oven.

Cooking Tips – I trust you find them practical.

  • Carrots can make a good substitute for sauces if you want to sweeten your food.
  • A tasty gravy can be prepared from roasting juices, so hold on to them for later!
  • Initial preparation is the secret to apply if one wants to have an straightforward time as they cook.
  • Broccoli should never be over-cooked if you would like it to remain crisp.
  • Do you wash mushrooms with running water? Avoid this since the mushrooms will soak up the water. Instead rub them with a wet cloth. Make sure you eliminate all the dirt.
  • One should ensure that their kitchen has a quality potato ricer.
  • A salad can be given a dash of variety and color by means of some red.
  • Soggy lettuce looks terrible. To prevent this use a salad spinner.
  • Steamer platforms that fold and are able to sit inside cooking pans are the best for steaming veggies.
  • The cook can, if necessary use a teaspoon of dried of Rosemary leaves as an alternative to a table spoon of fresh Rosemary.
  • The oven should be pre-heated before cooking to make it easier for it to sear the meats exterior and to make certain that the juices don't evaporate.
  • Always utilize a pan that is large enough – a bit bigger is far better than too small.
  • When pureeing vegetables for soup think about using a hand blender because this means you do not have to bring the ingredients to the food processor.
  • Don't use a fork to turn steaks. In its place use tongs and a spatula.
  • Wine that the cook never drinks should never be use to cook.
